Japan’s demand for crude steel to drop in Q2

Japan's demand for crude steel is forecasted to fall by 0.9% from a quarter ago to 26.4 million tons, according to the Japanese Ministry of Trade (METI).

Meanwhile, the total demand for the Japanese steel products, including exports is expected to fall by 2.3% quarter on quarter to reach 23.5 million tons in the second quarter.

In the given period of time, the demand for ordinary steel products is predicted at 18.9 million tons, down by 2.8%; that for special steel products would be at 4.6 million tons, falling by 0.4%, both compared to the figures in a quarter ago.
